November 9-10, 2012 US/Pacific
GI FilmFest Hollywood 2012
held at the Los Angeles Film School.
Hollywood, CA -
The first annual GI FilmFest Hollywood took place at the Los Angeles Film School in Hollywood, CA on Nov. 9 through 10.
The FilmFest featured award receptions, charity fundraising, panels with Q&A's, film premieres, movie screenings, red carpet events,
and plenty of entertainment industry networking opportunities.
One charity event, Operation Supply Drop, raised both funds and equipment as part of their Veterans Day "8-bit Salute to Veterans."
Funds raised would send the donated video games and consoles to U.S. troops deployed to Afghanistan.
Christy Carlson Romano was honored with the GI Spirit Award during the Opening Ceremonies held on Friday, November 9; and, Guest Speaker David James Elliott, representing The Gary Sinise Foundation, delivered
a moving speech to all in attendance. Brandon Millett and Laura Law-Millett, co-founders of the GI FilmFest, are to be lauded for their hard work and concerted effort in putting together such a fine event that honors
the sacrifices, hardships, and realities of soldiers and their families while honoring their value and worth.
One of the major pieces of information The "IN" Show learned was that the GI Film Festival is the only film festival in the nation to focus on preserving the stories of American veterans.
As a media outlet that holds in high regard our service men and women, we are pleased to report that the GIFF's energy and magnetism is most welcomed to SoCal! Here is but a sampling of some of the items held at GI FilmFest Hollywood:
Screening of Mickey Stroud's Tale of 2 Soldiers

America's Service Men and Women can be proud of the work being done by GI FilmFest Hollywood and those that support and participate in their efforts: from active and retired military to civilians both in and out of the entertainment industry.
All are proving a willingness to help GI's pursue dreams, aspirations, help, and a future. The GIFF Hollywood is a great stepping stone to life outside the military. SoCal welcomes what the GIFF is bringing to Hollywood and gives a resounding Hoorah!
